Major League Rugby’s Atlanta Team to Relocate to Los Angeles

 

DALLAS (August 17, 2023) – Major League Rugby (MLR) today announced that subject to certain closing conditions, Rugby ATL plans to relocate to Los Angeles for the 2024 season upon closing of the acquisition by the new ownership group. Details of the transition are being finalized, and a formal announcement and introduction of the new team and ownership group are expected soon.

“As we focus on the well-being of our players, we are happy to announce Los Angeles as the location the new ownership group of Rugby ATL has selected,” said Nic Benson, CEO of Major League Rugby. “We’re moving quickly, and I look forward to the full brand launch of the club.”

MLR continues to work with the Rugby ATL players and staff to provide the best next steps for everyone impacted by this transition.
